Melvin Leon Wilson, Sr., of Harrison, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri on Thursday, June 22, 2023.  He was 75 years old.

The son of Roy Lee and Arlie Mae (Martin) Wilson was born on September 18, 1947 in Harrison, Arkansas.

Melvin worked in different career fields in the Harrison area including places like Flexsteel and RockTenn.  He was also an EMT for short period of time and was a LPN at Hilltop Nursing Home, now The Springs at Mt. Vista.  Melvin also enjoyed his time as Volunteer Firefighter for the Capps-Batavia Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a member of Northside Church of Christ where was an active group member of the Golden Years.  Melvin enjoyed making jewelry and loved spending time outdoors especially fishing.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Wanda Lee; and two brothers, Delbert and Milton.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Rain Wilson; three children and their spouses, Oren Lee Wilson and Christine, Melcasadek Melvin Leon Wilson, II and Johannah, and Patricia LeAnna Mae Hull and Michael; 17 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, Anita Farris and husband, Mike, Jeannee Wilkerson and her fiancé Nick, and Lila Nettell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10 AM at the Activity Building of Northside Church of Christ.  Steve Powers will officiate.
