Obituary

Maurice Issac "Smokey" McDonald of Pyatt, Arkansas passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at Newton County Nursing Home at the age of 91.

The son of Ed and Mary (Ramsey) McDonald was born in Morgan County, Alabama on August 11, 1925.

He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in WWII. Smokey moved to Arkansas in 1986 and attended the Church of Zinc. He was a hard worker throughout his life, doing work ranging from a lawman in Florida to dairy farming. He was also assistant Pastor at the Church of Zinc, and he earned his Pastoral credentials from Bible Way in Doniphan, Missouri. He was a jack of all trades and loved his goats.

Smokey was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by 4 children, Margaret Massarelli, Sherry Owens, Smokey Lamont "Bill" McDonald and Doris Jean Gaines; 4 siblings, L.C. McDonald, Bobby Nell Swyderock, Alice Marie Taylor and Steve McDonald.

Smokey is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lois McDonald of the home; 5 sons, Edward Issac McDonald of AL, Robert McDonald of MI, Barry Joe McDonald of AL, Smokey Maurice McDonald, Jr., of Calico Rock, Jacob William McDonald of Jasper; 5 daughters, Sue McDonald of AL and Debbie McDonald of TN, Anna Marie McDonald of ND, Valorie Viellieux of WI and Andrea Thoennes of Paris, AR; a sister, Ann McMullin of AL and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2017 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.
