Obituary

Mary Jane Smith, age 75 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Highlands of Tims in Harrison.

The daughter of David W. and Marie (Bauder) Smith was born on January 18, 1940 in Houston, Texas.

Mary Jane never let anything get her down or make her feel sorry for herself, including the setback of having her left arm amputated at the age of 27. She was fiercely independent, self motivated, extremely stubborn, proud, hard working, and eccentric yet grounded. She raised 5 independent, loyal, responsible and loving children. Mary Jane was a faithful 3rd generation Jehovah's Witness. She mothered, ministered, cared for and took care of everyone she came into contact with, especially during the last 5 years at the Highlands of Tims Nursing Home. She loved her grandchildren and loved having them visit her at the nursing home and sit on her lap and take rides with her on her Hoverround.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 husbands, Bobby Duane Cleveland, Charles Lee Barron and John T. Barragan; and 2 sisters, Elaine Reagan and Pauline Reeves.

She is survived by her 5 children, Dale Wray Cleveland of Harrison, Pennie Deniece Nicholson and husband Danny of Dalhart, Texas, Dawn Elaine Pratt and husband David W. of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Gregory Scott Barron and wife Nancy of Grand Saline, Texas and Michael Sean Barragan and fiancée Veronica of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Marion Francis Walker of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will mourn her passing.

Services will be held Monday, September 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Brother Sammy Lail officiating. Burial will follow in Keesee Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include David Pratt, Danny Nicholson, Jaime Pratt, Michael Pratt, Chad Chandler and Dawson Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers include the staff and residents at Highlands of Tims Nursing Home and the nurses and staff of Legacy Hospice.
