Mary Ruth (Villines) Phillips, age 86 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at her home.
She was born January 11, 1925 at Boxley, Arkansas the daughter of Robert Hez Villines and Minerva "Minnie" Mae (Edgmon) Villines.
She was a lifetime resident of Newton County and a life-long member of Parthenon Baptist Church. She loved all of her family dearly. She raised her 12 children in Parthenon Baptist Church. She loved to make beautiful quilts. She made the best homemade bread around!
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Norman Phillips, 2 brothers, Neubern Villines and Lark Villines, 3 sisters, Georgie Burton, Nell Flud, and Clydie Villines, 1 grandson, Kyle Reece, 3 granddaughters, Cheryl Sue Morgan, Sonya Phillips and Caitlyn Holtby, 6 great-grandsons, Wesley Hayden Stuart, Gavin Breedlove, Robert Henderson, Austin Breedlove, Jeremy Wade, and Mason Gabriel Phillips Peasely, and 1 great-granddaughter, Chloe Scott.
She is survived by her three sons, Rodney Phillips of Hermiston, Oregon, Henry and Loretta Phillips of Batavia, Arkansas and Nelson Phillips of Bergman, Arkansas: nine daughters, Mary Caroline Morgan of Mt. Sherman, Arkansas, Bobbie and Doy Breedlove of Parthenon, Arkansas, Diantha Breedlove of Jasper, Arkansas, Cathy and Rodney Breedlove of Mt. Sherman, Arkansas, Betsy and Tim Braswell of Harrison, Arkansas, Tammy Vanderwaal of Parthenon, Arkansas, Jan Edgmon of Mt. Sherman, Arkansas, Tonda and Jeff Ervin of Springdale, Arkansas and Ginger and Billy Holtby of Harrison, Arkansas, 43 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons.
Funeral Service was Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Jasper First Baptist Church with Reverend Jamey James and Reverend Kerry Liggett officiating. Burial followed in Union Hill Cemetery at Parthenon.
Pallbearers were Rodney Breedlove, Tim Braswell, Jeff Ervin, Billy Holtby, Rick Minor and Floyd Morgan.
Visitation was Monday, November 21, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
