Obituary

Mary Mae (Dove) Crabb passed away on November 16, 2023, surrounded by her family at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville, AR.

The daughter of Wilbert and Belma Dove was born on May 3, 1929, in Martin County, Indiana.

She was married on December 31, 1947, to Marine Master Sergeant Sterling McNeal Crabb. Together they raised 4 children; 2 sons, Steven Neal Crabb and Michael Owen Crabb; and 2 daughters, Mary Ann (Crabb) Adams and Cindy Lynn (Crabb) Smith.

They moved constantly coast to coast to different Marine Bases, from North Carolina to California, eventually settling down on a large farm in Limestone Valley, Arkansas, where she went from attending Military Balls and selling Avon in California to raising a garden and canning vegetables.  She liked planting, anything, but especially roses of all different colors.  She also worked at the Deer School Cafeteria when her youngest daughter was old enough to attend school.

She was very proud of and loved her grandchildren. Grandchildren include Julie Annette and Jim Sterling Crabb and Amy Crabb (Bailey) children of Steve and Kathy Crabb; Jennifer Lynn Crabb (Campbell) and Jason McNeal Crabb, children of Mike and Susie Crabb. As well as her granddaughters, Stephanie Dawn Oelschlaeger and Samantha Deann Anderson, daughters of Cindy and Gary Smith and Rodney Anderson.

She had 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren as well.

She was involved in several clubs and activities in the Jasper area from a Cancer Fund Drive in 1965 to the VFW Women's Auxiliary to working at the Newton County Senior Center.

She loved to square dance and the old country music as well as the old religious songs.  She loved to sew and made a lot of her own clothes as well as her daughters.  She'll be remembered for her love of fashion, make-up, and cosmetology at her beauty shop in Jasper, Mary's Beauty Shop as she was a beautician by trade.

The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper with Tony Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Ogden Cemetery in Limestone.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Wednesday prior to the service.
