Mary Helen (Coble) Conner of Harrison passed away February 28, 2024, at her home with her husband and sons by her side. Helen was born on September 19, 1933, in Sapulpa, OK to George Lawrence and Mary Leola (Prince) Coble.
Helen lived in Harrison most of her adult life, she grew up during the depression era and moved many times between Oklahoma, California, and Missouri. In 1951 she graduated from Mt. Grove Missouri High School after completing only 10.5 years of school. Helen met Arlis Conner, the love of her life, at a Valentine's party in 1951 and they were married on April 23, 1952 in a double wedding ceremony with Leo and Etta Ruth Borland.
After their marriage, Helen spent several years working at the Oklahoma Publishing Company as a proofreader while Arlis attended college. After Arlis finished chiropractic college, Helen worked as his assistant in his office for 54 years.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Gary Conner, and her sisters, Florence Carder and Barbara Saunders.
She is survived by her husband, of 71 years, Dr. Arlis Conner; her sons, Freeman Conner (Dianne) and Travis Conner (Cherie- the daughter of her heart); daughters, Joyce Holt (Doug) and Arlette Mathis; two sisters, Nancy and Susan; and her brother, George.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Laura, Richie, Maggie, Lisa, Rebekah, Brooke, Ginny, Jonathan, and Elisha; 10 great grandchildren and her very close and dear friends, Donal Hudspeth and Donna Judy, with whom she shared over 50 years of friendship.
Services are on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM and the service at 2:00 PM with David Good and Elisha Conner officiating. Burial will be at Hilltop Cemetery.
