Obituary

Mary Anne (Cavins) Ashworth, age 85 of Jasper, AR, passed from this life on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Jasper, Arkansas
She was born on May 16, 1933 in Lexington, Kentucky the eldest of two children born to Mary and John Leonard Cavins.
She was raised in Fairborn, Ohio, and graduated from Fairborn High School.
She married Jerry K. Ashworth in September of 1950. They had their six children in Enon, Ohio, then moved to Newton County, Arkansas in 1973.

Mary Anne was very active in her church and community. She was a chef and caterer, known for her dinner parties.
One of her favorite jobs was being a towboat cook on the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. She was a member of the Jasper United Methodist Church, where she was a Lay Speaker, song leader, she helped start a prison ministry, she loved planning for and participating in the Salad Luncheon and many other activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Cavins, a grandson Mark Holmes, and a son-in-law, Jay Jenkins.

She is survived by her brother John Henry (Wanda) Cavins and their children of Sarasota, Florida; and her 6 beloved children: Chris (Maria) Ashworth of Mexico; Annie Holmes Jenkins of Murray, Arkansas; Susy (Tom) Mercer of Murray, Arkansas; Tom (Teresa) Ashworth of Rogers, Arkansas; Bill (Melody) Ashworth of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Laura (Joe) Hinchcliff of O'Fallon, Missouri;
as well as 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial and Celebration of Life Service at the Jasper United Methodist Church on October 19th at 2 o'clock. All friends are invited.
