Martin H. King, age 79, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away at home with his family by his side on Friday, July 24, 2026.
The son of Roy and Fronia King was born October 16, 1946 in Leicester, North Carolina. He and his family moved to Harrison, Arkansas when he was 11 years old, and he has lived here most of his life. He was a 1965 graduate of Harrison High School and had worked as a car salesman for over 40 years. He was distinguished in the car sales field, earning top salesman at most of the places he worked.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and weekly game nights playing cards and dominos with friends. He loved to tease, was quite the practical joker, and retell stories of the past – the church possum was a favorite.
Martin met the love of his life when he was in 11th grade. Karen was in the 10th grade and she was “the one” from their first meeting. They married 3 years later in 1966 and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this December. He was always very thoughtful and romantic, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. One of his life dreams was to visit every state with Karen and he was able to accomplish that before his passing; he also managed to squeeze in 3 cruises.
Martin was a founding member of Believer’s Fellowship Church in Harrison. For 22 years, he has been a faithful member. He has shown kindness and unwavering devotion to his Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and his faith in the Lord was unshakable. His testimony has left a lasting legacy in the hearts of his family and his church family.
He was very thoughtful and tenderhearted. To all of his family and friends, his life was a blessing and his memory is a treasure.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Craig King; an infant daughter, Lisa Michell King; two sisters, Martha Poyner and Mildred Case; three nephews, Michael, Shane, and Shannon Burnett; and a niece, Sabrina Drewry.
Martin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen King; daughter, Sarah Beth King; two brothers, Marvin King and Morris King; two sisters, Marie Tyson and Marlene (Darrell) Loftis; his grandson, Tyler (Miranda) King; brother-in-law, Ralph (Diana) Jones; sister-in-law, Linda (Johnny) Burnett; his dog, Polly; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A memorial visitation and celebration of life for Martin will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Believer's Fellowship Church, 806 N. Chestnut, in Harrison. The visitation will be from 1 PM to 2 PM and the celebration of life will immediately follow at 2PM. Pastor Dewey McGarrah will officiate.
Arrangements under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
