She was a graduate of Proviso West High School in Hillside, IL. At the age of 40, she graduated from North Central Bible College with a 4-year degree in Christian Education. She took a lot of pride in her NCBC degree. She spent most of her years in the work field as a Medical Transcriptionist. She ran an in-home daycare and she also sold Amway. Marlyss was always working. She had an "Eclectic Style" when it came to her ability to create added income to the household. She lived in Chicago for 36 years before moving to Minnesota from 1972-2006. She and her husband, Robert, moved to St. Joe, Arkansas in 2006, and in 2009, they moved to Jasper, Arkansas.
Marlyss loved to learn music and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She treasured time spent enjoying flowers, birds, butterflies, building puzzles, and fishing. She especially enjoyed being on or near the water, campfires, and bowling with her husband. Marlyss had a great passion for teaching children. She taught Sunday School and worked with a kid's group at church, and she took them fishing. She was a Mother Scout for the Boy Scouts. Another great passion of hers was making crafts, cards, and scrap books. She adored her family and the thing most dear to her heart was getting together with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Joseph Kaehne in 2018, and a sister, Cheryl Kloer.
Marlyss is survived by her sons, Bruce Kaehne and wife, Marsha of MN, Randy Kaehne and wife, Judy of TN; her daughters, Tracy Kaehne of MN, Rochelle Kaehne MN, Dawn McLaurin and husband, Mike of AR, and Kelly Roettger and husband, Jeff of AR; her brother, Craig Kloer and wife, Jan of CO; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; dear friends, Ron and Sharon Roettger and Shay and Rick Eccles, Troy and Judy Walker, and Sharon Morris, all of AR; and the residents and staff of Hillcrest Nursing Home.
