Marjorie "Judy" L. Bailey, 83 of Olatha, KS, formerly of Harrison, peacefully passed away Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Olathe Medical Center following an extended illness. Memorial Service 2 P.M. Thursday, January 4, 2006 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Pastor Mike Ada officiating. Private interment will be held at Enon Cemetery in Lead Hill.
The daughter of Leon and Georgia (Weed) Smith, was born July 3, 1923 in Jackson, Michigan. She moved to Los Angeles in 1936, where she appeared in movies as a dancer/actress for Warner Bros. Studios for several years. She met, and later married George L. Bailey on June 2, 1944. She and and George then went on to own and operate Bailey Trucking Service in Los Angeles for over 40 years, before retiring to Harrison in 1987. They loved their dream home of 40 acres on Gaither Mountain, expecially their own lake where they could fish with the grandkids and enjoy the quiet and beauty of the Ozark Hills.
Marjorie "Judy" was a volunteer with the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for 13 years and volunteered over 2,000 hours with the organization. They moved to Olathe in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Brian Aldis.
She was survived by her husband of 62 years, George L. Bailey of the home; four daughters, Sandra and husband, Gary Gentry of St. George, UT, Sallie and husband, Ed Pierce of Rolling Hills, CA, Robin and husband, Larry Tomblin of Placerville, CA, and Kathy and husband, Greg Tompkins of Olathe; her brother, R. Jack Smith of McLean, VA; twelve grandchildren, and an extended family of seven great grandchildren and three nephews, Marjorie "Judy" will be sadley missed and remembered for her love and devotion to George and her family.
