Obituary

Marcille Miller Lawrence, age 77, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away at home on March 15, 2023.

The daughter of Joseph James "Joe" Miller and Francis (Rowland) Miller was born April 27, 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee.

Marcille was a lifelong resident of Harrison, where she was a devoted member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and served the community.  Volunteerism and her love for her family were her driving activities and passions. During her many years of dedicated membership at First Christian Church, she served as Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board.  She also sang in the choir and went on numerous mission trips.

Marcille was the 1 st female president of Harrison Rotary Club, a member of Harrison Rotary Foundation, past president of NARMC Board of Directors, Master Gardener and Chapter H-PEO. She was a founding member of The Rotary Dental Clinic which serves the local community.  Marcille was also a longtime supporter and treasurer of the Boone County Heritage Museum and a member of the VFCC Garden Club.

Her proudest job was being a "Nana" to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Francis Miller and a brother, Jim Miller.

Marcille is survived by her husband, John Edward (J) Lawrence of the home; three sons, Jeff Martin of Springfield, Joe Martin (Michelle) of Bentonville, and John Martin of Harrison; a brother, Meredith Miller (Ginger) of Harrison; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey, Amanda, Cody, Allison, Dylan, and Travis Martin, and Mason, Drew, Morgan, and Maggie Lawrence; nephews and nieces, Nate Miller (Jill), Ashley Hoppis (Josh), Matt Miller (Beth), Jake Miller (Kali); cousins, Lindalou Hargraves and Buddy Hughes; and The Open Door Sunday School Class at First Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM at First Christian Church, 915 S. Maple St., on Monday, March 20, 2023; with a Memorial Service immediately following at 11 AM, at the church.  Ken Reeves and Dr. Charles Adair will officiate.  Private family burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Christian Church, Rotary International Foundation, Boone County Historical and Railroad Society, or Hospice of the Hills.
