Loyd Denton "Dent" Nichols, 75 of Western Grove, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Hospice House in Harrison, surrounded by his family.

The son of Truman and Dexter (Winstead) Nichols was born September 3, 1942.  He was raised in Mount Judea, and moved to Kansas City to work.  After a few years, he returned to Arkansas and eventually settled at Emerson Electric where he worked for 28 years, until his retirement in 2004.  He married Brenda (Loftin) Rogers on January 20, 1978.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and 4-wheeler riding.  He loved to travel and took his family on several road trips across the US so they could experience the history and nature of our country.

Loyd was a true patriarch, he loved his family beyond measure and his prayer for them was that they always remain close and respect one another. He treasured having his big family together any chance he could, including annual reunions with his extended relatives.  He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Evangel Assembly of God. He was also an active member of the Western Grove City Council for the past 5 years.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and loyal friend. He had a heart of gold and loved his family unconditionally.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Brenda Nichols of the home; his children and their spouses, Dean and Barbara Nichols of Western Grove, Roger and Beverly Rogers of Flippin and Missy and Terry Lee of Western Grove; two sisters, Sue Collins and Velma Ricketts of Mount Judea; one brother, Joe Charles Nichols of Mount Judea; five grandchildren, Ilah Beth Nichols, Vince Rogers and wife Kaitlynn, Corey Rogers, Josh Rogers and wife Kendra, Brittany Brown and husband Joshua; one great granddaughter, Mercy Lynn Rogers and a great grandson on the way, Baylor Matthew Brown; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and Leon Reavis, Bobby and Virginia Loftin and Bennie and Marsha Loftin; and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2017 at Evangel Assembly of God in Western Grove with Rev. Dorvin Ricketts officiating.  Burial will follow at Mount Judea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.

Pallbearers are Vince Rogers, Josh Rogers, Terry Lee, Greg Collins, Rex Cross and Leon Reavis.

Honorary Pallbearers are Corey Rogers, his nephews, the Men of Evangel Assembly of God and his co-workers at Emerson's.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Hospice House, 501 E. Sherman, Harrison, AR, 72601.
