Loyce Quentin Campbell was born September 4, 1931 in Eufala, Oklahoma to Peter Theodore and Rosalie (Riddell) Campbell. He passed away at his home in Piercetown, Arkansas on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the age of 79.
He was married on December 29, 1954 at Piercetown, Arkansas to Betty Lou Alspach by Rev. Cain Boling.
He worked in timber (skidding logs with a team of mules) and sawmills. He also worked for M&M Concrete-Arkansas Products and put in 13 years at Suttons in Harrison. He worked a couple of years for Newton County and his last job was with Rock Construction helping build the highway from Vendor, Arkansas to Highway 7.
He loved to garden and give away the produce. As long as he was able, he loved to hunt, fish and ginseng hunt. He liked to watch the birds and John Wayne movies.
He was of the Pentecostal faith and a lifetime resident of Newton County.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Velva (Crow) Alspach; sister-in-law and husband, Joan and Casal Royce and two brothers-in-law, Loyd Ricketts and Johnny Campbell; sisters, Mary Martin Collins, Louisa Bolin, Fay Stewart, Joanner Royce, Nancy Foster and Sally Jackson; brothers, Leonard, Alfred, Hubert, Walter, Cal, Duster, Daley and Jerry Campbell and several nieces, nephews and good friends.
He is survived by his wife of 56 1/2 years, Betty Lou (Alspach) Campbell of the home; a son, Andrew L. Campbell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Guthrie and Quentin Campbell and mother of his grandsons, Tammy Parra all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Ray and wife, Vela Campbell of Jasper and Loyd Campbell of Vendor; sisters-in-law, Violet Ricketts, Mary Campbell and Jane and husband, Curtis Clark; brother-in-law, Doyle Royce; a sister-in-law, Charlene Campbell a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family and special niece and caregiver, Judy Cross.
Services was Monday, June 13, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Bro. Leo Dye officiating. Burial followed in Ricketts Cemetery above Hubert Campbell place at Vendor.
Visitation was Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers were Guthrie and Quentin Campbell, Harold Reddell, Jerry Wayne Campbell, Kenneth Ray Campbell, Eric Ray Campbell, Joe Wayne Campbell, Cecil Quentin Royce and David Royce. Honorary pallbearers were Betty Levern Eddings, Peggy and Clyde Ransom, Pamela Lou and Roger Delahunt, Terry Royce, Francis Smith, Kenneth and Joe Royce, James, Larry and Donald Richardson, Shannon Campbell, J.C. Richardson and Jeff Lawson.
