Loy Ray Wagoner, age 80 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at his home.
The son of George and Elsie (Markle) Wagoner was born August 3, 1932 at Dodd City, Arkansas.
He was a farmer and timber worker; a Corporal in the United States Army; Newton County Sheriff from 1966 until 1972; a Mason; owner of the Buffalo River Hunting Club; an avid outdoorsman and hunter and enjoyed fishing.
He killed the first deer in Newton County after the restocking of deer in 1950.
He had lived most of his life in Newton County.
His parents; sister, Margie Stanley and brothers, Coy Wagoner and Carl Wagoner preceded him in death.
Survivors are his son, Chris Wagoner of Jasper; one brother, Harry Wagoner and wife, Carol of Bergman; four sisters, Marie Harp, Dean Lister, Nina Williams and husband, Curtis and Shirley Horn and husband, Foy all of Harrison and long time companion, Wilma Willis of Jasper.
Graveside services were Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Jasper Cemetery with Bro. Troy Walker officiating. Burial followed Jasper Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper.
Visitation was Sunday, January 13, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers was Jerry Robinson, Thomas Robinson, Justin Vanderpool, Joseph Carter, Tim Boswell, and Joey Brasel. Honorary pallbearers was Harry Wagoner, Donnie Stanley, Junior Raulston, Buddy Spence, Grant Honeycutt and Trevor Honeycutt.
