Lowell C. Dees, age 77 of Harrison, passed away at the Harrison Hospice House on Friday, May 14, 2010.

The son of James R. and Montie M. (Abel) Dees, was born at Bellefonte on June 2, 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

He enjoyed playing cards, liked walking, watching baseball, basketball and football games, attending all reunions (school, family, and veterans). He collected and donated can tabs for different charities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Agnes Jones and Thersia Slack/Jones; one brother, James Frank Dees; one step-son, Lynn Barton; his father-in-law, Kenneth Montgomery.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Montgomery) Dees of the home; a step-son, Terry Barton of Harrison; one brother, Meredith and wife, Rita Dees of Edmond, OK; three sisters, Alpha Keeter, Charlene Cunningham, and Marilyn Jarrett and husband, Curt all of Harrison; mother-in-law, Zella Montgomery of Harrison; brothers-in-law and wives, Glenn and Pat Montgomery of Harrison, Danny and Gretchen Montgomery of Texas, and Jim Montgomery of Missouri; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was Monday at the Northside Church of Christ. Graveside service was Tuesday at Bellefonte Cemetery with Jerry Honey officiating.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Jim Slack, Jerry Jones, Richard Jarrett, Roger Cunningham, Mark Dees, Bill Witty, Shelby Beamon, and Gene Waters.

Honorary pallbearers were the Service Battery #936 Field Artillery; Sonja's Classic Cut Barber Shop friends, Tim Youngs, Carlton Taylor, Gene Davis, David Witty, Robert Shaddox, David Doss, Jim Gaskill, and Buddy West.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the Hospice House, 501 E. Sherman Ave, Harrison, AR 72601
