Obituary

Linda Sue Collins, 80 of Harrison, Arkansas gloriously traded holding the hands of her loved ones for holding the hand of her Savior as she triumphantly walked through the gates of heaven on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

Sue was born on May 5, 1944, in Modesto, California. She was the second child born to Amos and Alma Spears. As a child, she attended a one-room school in Piercetown and would share stories about how different things were when she and her siblings had to walk to school. Later, she was able to ride a bus and attended high school in Jasper.

Sue married Jim Edwards in a simple ceremony, and from this union three children were born: Timothy Edwards and his wife, Teresa, of Lanes Prairie, Missouri; Kimberly Ricketts and her husband, Wesley, of Harrison, Arkansas; and Sean Edwards and his wife, Rozetta, of Omaha, Arkansas. In 1989, she married Lee Roy Collins of Pea Ridge, and they spent eleven years together.

Throughout her life, Sue worked in a variety of positions to provide for her family. As a child, she spent time in the cotton fields, picking peaches, and cutting grapes. She later worked for Ranger Boats, Hi-D-Ho, Ozark Mart, Pizza Hut, Harold's Bakery, and Valley Shamrock. Sue made many lifelong friends and cherished memories through her years of work. She took great pride in her family and always showed love to everyone.

Sue's home became a welcoming place for all who visited, and she especially loved having her family together, listening to them play and sing music. She found great joy in baking and was known for making some of the best sweets for miles around—especially her orange slice cake, upside-down cake, and banana bread. Sue's favorite pastimes included crocheting, reading Western novels, and watching Westerns on TV—particularly those starring John Wayne and Chuck Norris in Walker, Texas Ranger.

Sue accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and spent the rest of her days serving Him. Nothing brought her more joy than living her life to serve God. She understood what a precious gift salvation is and shared that gift through everything she did. Because of her faith, her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now in Heaven, worshiping God for all eternity.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bill Spears and her husband, Lee Roy Collins.

In addition to her husband and children, Sue is survived by sister, Rilda Smith of Western Grove, Arkansas; her brother, Tom Spears and his wife, Anita, of Parthenon, Arkansas; and her sister, Nina Greeson and her husband, Danny, of Marshall, Arkansas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jonathon and Jayanne Ricketts, Ryan Ricketts, Heather and Justin Bates, and Tashay Edwards; ten great-grandchildren: Keagen Ricketts, Kaleena Ricketts, Isabella Edwards, Payton Sisco, Logan Sisco, Laylah Bates, LynLeigh Bates, Jon Ricketts, Jay Ricketts, and DJ Ricketts; and two great-great-grandchildren: Oaklynn Ricketts and Katie Ricketts.
