IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Rae
Baker
October 26, 1945 – June 21, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Rae Baker, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Daughter, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend. Linda left this earth for her heavenly home on June 21, 2024, at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family.
Linda was born on October 26, 1945, in Topeka, Kansas, to Helen Maxine and Robert Ray Kane. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1963. After graduating, she met and fell in love with Coy Baker. They were married on September 27, 1964, and the following year, they moved to Arkansas where Coy grew up. Together, they raised three children and built a loving home and family. In September, they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Linda was known for her boundless love, unwavering support, and gentle guidance. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially with her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Indy and Emryn (Emmy). She eagerly anticipated the arrival of two more great-granddaughters this Fall. Linda retired in 2000 after 26 years of working at McKesson. Upon retirement, she dedicated herself to caring for her grandchildren and was instrumental in their upbringing.
Linda was a kind soul who loved to laugh and was always ready to feed or clothe anyone who happened to stop by. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping and playing cards with friends. She was an avid bargain and treasure hunter who loved garage sales, thrift stores, and shopping clearance racks. Linda was also an excellent cook who enjoyed cooking and canning. She loved adventures and new experiences with her family and enjoyed trips to visit her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Coy of the home in Pindall; daughter Angela Gerken and husband Greg of Nixa, Missouri; son Steven Baker and wife Amber of Western Grove; son Jason Baker and wife Melissa of Everton; six grandchildren, Caitlyn Halberg and husband Kyle, Alexis Gerken (Joe Reid), Hunter Baker (Grace Moore), Kooper Baker, Kayla Pakieser and husband Dylan, and Brooklynn Ricketts and husband Keagan; two great-grandchildren, Indy Halberg and Emryn Pakieser; stepmother Alta Kane of Carbondale, Kansas; step-siblings Craig Kane and wife Brenda, Connie Hemphill and husband James, Denise Stell and husband Robert; longtime best friends Mary Willis, Connie Willis, and Stella McGowan; and many other friends and family who loved and adored her. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kelly Ann, both parents, beloved sister-in-law Joyce Saling, step-sibling Dena Bradshaw, dear cousin David Sheley, and many other beloved family members and friends who have gone before her.
Linda's kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, warm heart, and ability to make everyone around her laugh and feel comfortable. Linda will be dearly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew her. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
A celebration of Linda's life will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 2 pm at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison, where friends and family are invited to gather and share their memories. Services will be officiated by Jerry "Cub" Scott. Burial will immediately follow at Anderson Flat Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26th, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Hunter Baker, Kooper Baker, Kyle Halberg, Joe Reid, Dylan Pakieser, and Keagan Ricketts. Honorary pallbearer is Sherman McGowan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in her honor.
