Lillie Clementine Vanderpool, age 100 of Lurton, AR, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Newton County Nursing Home in Jasper.

The daughter of Daniel Houston and Ollie Margaret (Freeman) Hefley was born December 27, 1921, in Lurton, AR.

Lillie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Madison Vanderpool; 8 siblings; and her son, Tommy Earl Vanderpool.

Lillie's father "Uncle Dan" was the founder of the Lurton Assembly of God Church that she attended her whole life. She was married to Earl for 53 years and lived in Newton County.  She loved to sing and recorded numerous Gospel albums with the Hampton Family.  She won the Sr. Miss Newton County twice at the Newton County Nursing Home.

Lillie enjoyed talking on the phone to her friends.  She loved to cook and would feed whoever put their feet under her table. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren, she loved her family unconditionally.

Lillie is survived by her sons; Johnny Paul Vanderpool of Lurton and Joseph Wayne Vanderpool and his wife Tammy of Lurton; her daughters, Nina Lee Hull of Harrison and Becky Earlene Haney and her husband Sonny of Dover, AR; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2022, at the Lurton Assembly of God Church with Pastor Stan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Tarlton Cemetery in Lurton.

Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Saturday at the church prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hull, Skylar Vanderpool, Jason Criner, Kodi Vanderpool, Donnie Hampton, Shawn Taylor, and Ryan Taylor.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lurton Assembly of God Church.
