Leroy Williams, of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville at the age of 83.
The son of Ellis and Viola (Freeman) Williams was born July 20, 1933 at Rogersville, Missouri.
He had been a resident of Arkansas the last 6 years coming from Missouri and was active at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Harrison.
Leroy was a retired veteran of the US Army, serving 5 years. He fought in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart for wounds he received in battle. After retiring from the military, he worked at many jobs, including truck driving and security officer. He enjoyed riding horses, taking care of mules, fishing and even drove a wagon train, taking people on tours for weeks at a time. He was quiet and easy going, loved to entertain people and had a big heart for children, sponsoring children in the Philippines and donating to Philippine Orphanages. He would go out of his way to help you, whether you were family, friend or a stranger. Leroy will be remembered as a loving husband, father and loyal friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard Williams and a son, Jamie Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Williams of Harrison; his daughter, Maria Gienelle Williams of Springfield, MO; his step-mother, Dean Williams; 5 sisters, Ruby Erwin, Alice Wilson, June Solomon, Jodina Cantrell and Lesa Van Husen; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, Missouri under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 4-6PM, with eulogy being read at 5:00 PM, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
