IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leroy David
Shower
November 11, 1933 – June 20, 2025
Leroy David Shower, of Alpena, passed away at his home on Friday, June 20, 2025. He was 91 years old.
The son of Ralph Thomas and Tomena (Wickham) Shower was born on November 11, 1933 in Montebello, California.
Leroy was a dedicated law enforcement officer who proudly served his community throughout his career. He began as a patrol officer and steadily rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police for the Berryville Police Department. His commitment to public service continued as he went on to serve as the Sheriff of Carroll County.
After retiring, Leroy found joy in the simple pleasures of farm life. He loved spending time outdoors and caring for his animals—ranging from goats to cats and everything in between.
Leroy also had a famously fierce sweet tooth, with a particular fondness for gummy bears that never failed to bring a smile to his face.
His family takes comfort in knowing he was of the Christian faith, and they find peace in the belief that he is now at rest.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Shower; and a brother, Manferd Shower.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy (Bill) Wilson and Debbie (Gene) Youngblood; one brother, Ralph Shower; seven grandchildren, Kelly Youngblood, Nicki (Jason) Writer, Trenton Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Tommy (Kammie) Shower, Timmy Shower, and Lexi (Ryan) Williams; many great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
A private service will be held at a later date
