Anna Lavern "Walsie" Criner, age 82 of Jasper, Arkansas died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at her home.
She was born July 24, 1931 at Redrock, Arkansas the daughter of Arvil and Alma (Ricketts) Shatwell.
She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Newton County.
Lavern was preceded in death by her parents, Arvil and Alma Shatwell; her husband, Jim A. Criner; one sister, Lavenua Hughes; one brother, Jerry Lynn Shatwell; an infant son, Gene Criner; and two grandsons, Matthew and Duke Criner.
Survivors are four sons, Clayel Criner of Mt. Judea, Arkansas; Jack Criner of Pelsor, Arkansas; Larry Criner of Parachute, Colorado and Randall Criner of Pelsor, Arkansas; two daughters, Marsha Montelongo of Carona, California and Brandy Peters of Greely, Iowa; one brother, Arlis Shatwell of Piercetown, Arkansas; one sister, Carolyn Smith of Princeton, Missouri; twenty-three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services was Monday, January 13, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Minister Joe Sain officiating.
Burial followed in Criner Cemetery at Mt. Judea, Arkansas.
Visitation was Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Bob Freeman, Earl Freeman, Justin Criner, Dustin Criner, Buddy Shatwell and Rondal Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Lynn Carl Middleton, Dr. Jimmy Justice, Rachell Ricketts, Teresa Campbell, Deanna Gilliam, Jeremy Shatwell, Clayton Shatwell, Jason Criner, J.L. Freeman, and Carl Freeman.
