Obituary
Lavenua Marjorie Hughes, age 74 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at her home in Jasper.
She was born November 1, 1935 at Red Rock, Arkansas a daughter of Arvil and Alma (Ricketts) Shatswell. She had moved back to Newton County 17 years ago from Kansas City, Missouri and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvil and Alma Shatswell; one brother, Jerry Lynn Shatswell; and a grandson, Rusty Archer.
Survivors are her husband of 55 years, Donald L. Hughes of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Lynette Hughes of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters and a sons-in-law, Theresa Archer-Lemos and Tony Lemos of Kansas City, Kansas and Sandi and Ken Clagett of Harrison; one brother, Arlis Shatswell of Monett, Missouri; two sisters, Lavern Criner of Jasper and Carolyn Faye Smith of Princeton, Missouri; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other relatives and friends.
Visiation was Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
The service was held Friday, April 2, 2010 at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Claude Williams officiating.
Burial followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Boxley with pallbearers being Clayel Criner, Jack Criner, Donald Hughes, Farrell Shatwell, Shawn Powell, and David Smith.
