Obituary

Larry Edward Flud, 70, of Western Grove, went to his eternal home on Thursday, May 19, 2022. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all.

Larry was born January 11, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri to Freddie Flud and Lucy Edith (Martin) Flud. He graduated from Mt Judea High School in 1969. He began his college education at State College of Arkansas where he received his bachelor's degree in Social Studies and Physical Education. Later, he earned his master's and specialist degrees in education from the University of Arkansas.  Larry dedicated 28 years as an educator, during which time he touched the lives of countless students as a basketball coach and history teacher at Deer, and Superintendent at Mt. Judea and Western Grove. In 1985 he joined the O.U.R. Educational Cooperative where he spent 16 years serving the special children of Arkansas as the Special Education Supervisor.

Larry was blessed to retire in 2001 at the young age of 49. He spent 21 years enjoying his farm and his cows, and spending quality time with his kids and grandkids.  He enjoyed reading his Bible, attending church, watching old westerns, and talking on the phone with his loved ones. Larry was a storyteller, and he loved to make people laugh. He wholeheartedly believed in the importance of kindness and inclusion, and he had many friends from all walks of life.

He was a member of Piercetown Holiness Church. He knew the Lord all his life and rededicated his life to the Lord in his later years. He was baptized by his brother, Tom Flud at Big Creek on July 16, 2020. Larry was so proud to call Tom his pastor, and he loved to tell about the day his baby brother baptized him.

Larry is survived by his four children; Jason (Chasity) Flud, Justin (Vicky) Flud, Stephanie (Scotty) Patton, and Chelsea (Adam) Boucher; thirteen grandchildren; Scott Flud, Jordan (Madison) Flud, Hunter Tramell, Chance Warner, Adelynn Blankenship, Emma Blankenship, Jayden Flud, Laighton Henderson, Londyn Flud, Beckett and Addi Boucher, Annie Patton, and Quiency Patton; four great grandchildren, Liberty Flud, Jaxon Flud, Stetson Flud, and Daxton Prine; his brothers, Bob (Bonnie) Flud  and Tom (Karen) Flud; several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, his good friend and cousin, Michael Martin, who helped him tremendously in his later years, his sweet helper, Kendra Campbell, and special friend, Barbara Vincent.
