Kelce Harl Ewing, age 77 of Jasper, Arkansas passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison, Arkansas.
He was born April 16, 1932 at Red Rock, Arkansas the son of Jim and Freda (Kuhn) Ewing.
He was a farmer, timber worker, factory worker, and wood worker. He loved making crafts and things for his home and also loved hunting and fishing. Although, gardening was his all time favorite past time. He always had three gardens, but would not sell his produce, as he loved giving to family and friends.
If anyone needed help, he was always there for them. He was a member of Jasper Church of Christ and lived most of his life in Newton County.
His parents preceded him in death, along with four brothers, J.K., Jesse, Jack, and Ford Ewing; a nephew, Willard Ewing; his mother-in-law, Lorene Severin; his father-in-law, Loyd Canady; a sister-in-law, Linda Pearl Ives; and a brother-in-law, Lester Paul Raines.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Betty Rene (Canady) Ewing of the home; a sister, Blanche (Ewing) Birlson of Batesville, Arkansas; sisters-in-law, Drena (Baughman) Ewing of Western Grove, Arkansas, Doris Romo and Joyce Wheatly and husband, Earl all of California; a brother-in-law, Larry Canady of New Mexico; nephews and nieces, whom he called his children, Wayne Ewing and his wife, Karen, James Ewing and his wife, Becky, Janet (Ewing) Sutterfield and her husband, Dennis, Lonnie Ewing and his wife, Teresa, Debbie (Ewing) Freeman and her husband, Steve, Tim Ewing and his wife, Dana, Robin Ewing and his wife, Liz, Kelley (Ewing) Reynolds and her husband, Glendell, Freeda (Birlson) Bone, Jackie Ewing, Mike Ewing, Teresa (Romo) Canady and her husband, Lonnie, Tammie (Romo) Stevens and her husband, Mike, Tiffany Abarca, Larry Canady, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, Krista Grietler, Tony Del Dotto, Dawn Gillard and her husband, Dale, and Joshua Wheatley.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper. Services were Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the funeral home chapel with Phil Powers officiating. Burial followed in Crossroads Cemetery at Deer with nephews, nieces, and their spouses serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Kelce will be missed and mourned by many.
