June Alta (Chapin) Barnes, age 92 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Green Haven Nursing Center in Springfield, MO.
The daughter of Charles and Mary (Camacho) Chapin, she was born September 16, 1915 in Coulterville, CA. She was a retired school teacher of 32 years. She enjoyed reading, writing letters, genealogy, and traveling.
June was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was formerly of Oakdale, CA and Cederedge, CO.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 62 years, Elmer Barnes; four brothers; five sisters; and three grandchildren.
Survivors are her son, Lynn Barnes of Oakdale, CA and a daughter, Sharlene (Barnes) Davis of Theodosia, MO; ten grandchildren, Sabina Johnson of Mountain Home, Christine Pegues of San Diego, CA, Lynn Barnes of of Las Vegas, NV, Michelle Manley of Waterford, CA, Jeanette Espinoza of Modesto, CA, Paulette Toliver of Alma, AR, Jeff Morris of Fort Smith, John Ramsey of Harrison, Michelle Burleson of Lead Hill, and Eric Davis of Harrison. Her thirty-eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, also survive her.
Graveside services were Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Milum Cemetery at Lead Hill, Arkansas. The eulogy was given by Joy Davis.
Arrangements were handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
