Buddy "JR" East, 73, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022.

Right out of high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War, as a radio operator. After leaving the Air Force, he held several jobs throughout the country, including a car salesman, owner of a pawn shop, a salesman at Tanner True Value in Jasper, an auctioneer for 29 years, and a J.P. for district 8, Newton County, Arkansas for approximately 7 years.  He and his wife Barbara of 40 years have been residents of Mt. Sherman (Jasper) for the past 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Barbara East; his children, Debra Whalen (Michael), Tommy Fay (Michelle Sims), Eddie Jordan, and Jay East (Chelsea); eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and June East; and his son Darrell Fay.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Mt. Sherman Community Center from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with services to begin at 2:00 PM. The burial will follow in Mt. Sherman Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Whalen II, Joseph Whalen, Blue Ballard, Blue Ballard Jr, Shannon Willis, Ray Watkins, and Steve Adams.
