Obituary

Geraldine "Judy" McFarlan, age 68 of Harrison, Arkansas passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 at her home, after a long battle with lung cancer.

The daughter of Paul and Lear (Hendrix) Cope, she was born November 25, 1940 in West Plains, Missouri.

She was a wonderful mama, nanny, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Judy was retired from Millbrook and had also worked at Tyson and Wabash.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donny Ray Cope and Paul T. Cope; and sisters, Joyce Hansley and Pauline Dickard.

Survivors are her daughter, Rhonda Davis and her husband, Carl of Harrison; four sisters, Janice Connell and her husband, David of Sante Fe, Texas, Debbie Knapp and her husband, Rex, Kaye Taylor and her husband, Jerry, and Glenda McClellan and her husband, Jessie Dale, all of Harrison; one brother, Don "Dink" Cope and his wife, Francis of Western Grove; grandchildren, Heather Slayton and her husband, J.J. of Centerton, Arkansas, and Heath McFarlan and his wife, Shannon of Everton; great granddaughters, Alivia Slayton, Lacy McFarlan, Karley McFarlan, and baby Addison Slayton, due in July. She is also survived by her very special friend, Charlotte Hemmy of Saline, Kansas.

Visitation was Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. Services were Thursday, March 26, 2009 at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Kerry Liggett officiating. Burial followed in White Church Cemetery with pallbearers being Heath McFarlan, Jeff Cope, Kevin McClellan, Brian Knapp, Matt Taylor, David Connell, Kenneth Malone, Shannon McClellan, Eric Knapp, Jason Cope, and Dubby Hansley. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kevin Jackson and Crossroads Medical Clinic, Legacy Hospice, Dr. Sabre Wright, Hubbard Eye Clinic, and Hospice of the Ozarks.

The family would like to express many, many thanks to Dr. Kevin Jackson for all he had done in making sure she got her "hugs" that helped her so much, to Rogina at Crossroads Medical Clinic for all her help and understanding, to Tina, Charlotte, Kelly, Terrie, Carol, and Kerry at Legacy Hospice for taking such good care of Mom, and to Dr. Sabre Wright for coming to us and making sure that her eyes stayed in good shape.
