Obituary

Joye Sue Robinson, age 85, of Western Grove, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri.

The daughter of Carl Nichols and Eunice (Bowden) Nichols was born October 11, 1939, in Western Grove. She was a lifelong resident of Western Grove, living within 400 yards of where she was raised. She was a proud graduate of Western Grove High School, Class of 1957. She was a longtime, faithful member of Yardelle Chapel, where she sang with the "Yardelle Teenagers".

Joye Sue married the love of her life James Howard Robinson on August 29, 1958. They raised two sons and ran Robinson Dairy, enjoying 52 years together before his passing December 6, 2010.

Joye Sue had worked at Oberman's and was well known for the years she worked at Western Grove IGA/Grices's Grocery. She could occasionally be found helping around the farm and dairy when they were milking cows. She was also a member of the Western Grove Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 20 years.

Joye Sue was an avid Western Grove Warrior fan. She never missed a ballgame. She loved her alma mater and was instrumental in organizing the annual Western Grove School Homecoming Reunion.

In her younger years, she enjoyed crafting. She was always on the lookout for a good yard sale. She loved family camping trips and gardening, especially her flowers. Joye Sue was a well-known, respected and beloved member of the Western Grove community. Everyone was welcome in her home, and she would most certainly not let you leave without feeding you first. She fed many people around her table and her snack bar, and was known to be a remarkable cook, especially if you've ever had her brown beans and cornbread. She would only cook them in the 100-year-old pot that belonged to her mother. Her meals were cooked with love and lots of bacon grease.

If you use one word to describe Joye Sue, it is love. She loved, she loved big, and she loved unconditionally. She was witty, patient, kind-hearted, and a wonderful mom and Nana. She loved her grandsons, and they could do no wrong in her eyes. She cherished Sunday dinners with her family and loved cooking for them weekly. The dinners were a very big deal to her, and she treasured having her family together. She was her family's treasure, and she was loved and will be missed more than words can express.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Howard Robinson; and two brothers, and their wives, Carl Jean Nichols (Willie) and Koytt Nichols (Jimmie).

Joye Sue is survived by her sons, Greg (Ronda) Robinson and Scott (Tina) Robinson; grandsons, Walker Robinson and Waylon Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
