Joseph Edward Blevins, 53, of Harrison, died Wednesday, June 16
(2010) at Springfield, Mo.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 19, at Coffman
Funeral Home in Harrison. Visitation was Friday,
June 18, at the funeral home. Burial followed in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens in Hopewell, Va.
The oldest child of Jim and Pearl Blevins was born May 2, 1957, at
Marion, Va. He grew up in Blackstone, Va., and after graduating from
high school in 1975, he joined the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a
Master Sergeant after serving his country honorably for 20 years. He
moved to Harrison in 1995. He worked as a manager for Windstream
(Alltel) for 10 years, and then found a new career as a driver for
Schwan's. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball and spending time
with his family, who he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Shelly on Nov. 4, 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his children, Sarah Gammill and
husband Chris, Rachel Blevins and Jim Blevins, all of Harrison; his
parents, Jim and Pearl Blevins and a brother, Scotty Blevins, all of
Ridgedale, Mo.; sisters, Sue Atkins and husband Billy of Petersburg,
Va. and Marcia Brown of Hopewell, Va.; and many other relatives and
friends.
