Obituary

John Jay Wiggins, age 97 of Harrison passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Harrison.

The son of John C. and Gertrude (Lane) Wiggins was born June 25, 1913 in Carthage, Missouri.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Diamond City. He owned and operated the Lead Hill Boat Dock for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, music and was a jazz trumpet player. He played in USO shows while in the military and also played in the big bands in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Wiggins; and his brother, William H. Wiggins.

He is survived by his daughter, Sally Parsley and husband, Larry of Lead Hill; his niece, Carol Mitchell and husband, Jay of Mobile, AL; his grandchildren, Amy Harp and husband, Tony and Brad Parsley and fiance, Marsha Moore; and great-grandchildren, Austin Smith, Marissa Hemphill and Matthew Hemphill.

There was a memorial service Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Diamond City with Rev. Ed Laroe officiating.

Cremation and arrangements havebeen handled by Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison.
