Obituary
John Alex Stayton, age 77 of Gilbert, Arkansas passed away Wednesday June 6, 2018 in Gilbert.
The son of Richard Ira and Lottie (Cates) Stayton was born in Blair, Oklahoma on April 28, 1941.
He served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing and loved to work on his wood carvings. John also loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Leona Stayton.
He is survived by a son, John Glen Stayton and wife Diane of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Mary Lou Burge and husband Wayne of Atchison, Kansas and Lottie Adams and husband Terry of Harrison, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren, Kurty, Felicia, Emily, Shane, Shasta, April, Mitchell, Kaylee, Brandi, JR, Cody and Paige; 23 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends who will mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 9, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Rev. Raymond Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Gilbert Cemetery in Gilbert, Arkansas. An open visitation will be held until 8:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers include Shane Adams, Kurtiss Burge, Ronnie Stayton, JR Whitney, Evan Helton, Jim Stayton and Danny James Baker. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Burge, Terry Adams and Danny Baker.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Hills, 501 E. Sherman, Harrison, AR 72601.
