John Robert "Jack" Nelms, of Valley Springs, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at The Springs of Harrison.  He was 88 years old.

The son of Roy Melton and Emmer "Trussie" Nelms was born on July 21, 1935 in Ashville, Alabama.

John or "Jack" as he was called by friends and family, retired at the age of 65 after working as the Maintenance Supervisor at TNS Enterprises.  Jack was a member at Lighthouse Full Gospel Church and attended Church by the River, in St. Joe, on Wednesday evenings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Angela; one son, Johnny; one brother, James; and three sisters, Elizabeth, Judy, and Dorothy Sue.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Thresa Nelms; two daughters, Jenny Nelms (Mike) and Trussie Rampley (Chris); stepdaughter, Tracie Bradshaw (Brandon); one sister, Beatrice "Bea"; four grandchildren, Teddy Witker, Clarence Lee Stevens, Stephen Widmer, and Haven Rampley; four step grandchildren, Dylan Bradshaw (Jessica), Bailey Bradshaw, Jayden Bradshaw, and Grace Bradshaw; one step great grandchild, Owen Bradshaw; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison from 6:00 to 8:00 PM

Funeral service is Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, in Valley Springs, at 4:00 PM.  Pastor Nathan Middleton will officiate.  Burial will be at Maple Leaf Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Brandon, Dylan, Bailey, and Jayden Bradshaw, Dexter Burns, and Chris Rampley.  Honorary pallbearer is James Faddis.
