Obituary

John Henry Norton, 98 of Deer, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Twin Lakes Therapy and Living in Flippin, Arkansas.

The son of Hiram and Mattie (Copeland) Norton was born at Walnut, Arkansas on September 13, 1921.  He was a US Army Air Corp Veteran.  He also worked at RCA Rubber Company.  John had moved to Deer 11 years ago from Pulaski, Tennessee.

He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a lifetime member of Al Menah Shriners and a member of American Legion Post #60.  As a Shriner, he spent several years bussing many children with physical disabilities all over the U.S. to different Shriner's Hospitals.  He was an avid fisherman and was also a pilot, and flew his own plane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his only son, Lynn Carroll Norton, two brothers, Avery Norton and Harold Norton and his sister, Ruby (Norton) Watson.

John is survived by his wife, Prudence (Benegar) Norton, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends who loved him and will miss him.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Deer Baptist Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery at Nail.

Services will be officiated by Stanley Taylor and Bill Counts.   Pallbearers Shawn Burdine, Joe Cowell, Gary Spradley, Kevin Spradley, Jerry Laughter and Rodger Watson.
