John Edward McPhee, age 73 of Western Grove, Arkansas passed away Friday December 4, 2020 in Harrison, Arkansas.
The son of John Joseph and Grace Loraine (Beckett) McPhee was born on January 14, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.
John was a loving husband, dad and Papa who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He loved to tell stories from his childhood and life experiences. He also enjoyed playing golf, target shooting with his guns and watching all types of sports on TV.
He grew up in Yuma, Arizona, then moved to Jasper, Arkansas when he was in high school where he graduated in 1965. After graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Georgia, and shortly after he shipped out to begin his service in the United States Air Force. While in service, he worked at a top secret communications unit in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. After leaving the Air Force, he worked at various jobs before eventually beginning a career in the aluminum extruding industry which lasted 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Charles McPhee.
John is survived by his wife, Georgia McPhee of Western Grove; a daughter Cheryl McPhee Lochridge of Harrison; a brother, Phil Boord of Reno, Nevada; a sister, Deanna Jackson of Reno, Nevada; two grandchildren, Dr. Ashley McPhee and Ethan Lochridge and many other family and friends who will mourn his passing.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Carver Cemetery in Hasty, Arkansas with Brother Jimmy Bohannon officiating. Pallbearers include Scott Chisum, James Watson, Donald Moore, Erik Eby, Gene Carder, Wesley Watson and Ethan Lochridge.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be sent to the Fisher House Foundation or DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
