John Wallace Hudson Sr., age 93 of Jasper, AR, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, at his home in Jasper.

The son of William A. and Benta (Witaker) Hudson was born June 24, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Hudson; his brother, Bill Hudson; and his daughters, Frances Lair and Bobie Dean.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family.  He met Barbara and dated her for 6 years before marrying on February 3, 1950.  They were married for 66 years.

John was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrison and after moving to Jasper he attended the Jasper Methodist Church.  He worked at the Harrison Jr. High School for 30 plus years.  He was a science teacher, vice-principal, and principal.  He was devoted to the students of Harrison even the ones that he paddled and the ones he probably should have.  He lived 93 years and ran a good race and had a wonderful life.

John is survived by his sons, Bill Hudson and his wife Angela of Harrison, AR, and John Hudson, Jr. of Jasper, AR; his daughter, Benta Hicks of Tulsa, OK; his sister-in-law, Edna Fry of Malibu, CA; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and many other family and friends that will mourn his passing.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper, AR.

The funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 1, 2021, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper with Rev. Byron Mann officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hudson-Akers Family Cemetery near Jasper.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
