IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Lee
Hagood
July 3, 1951 – January 17, 2026
John Lee Hagood of Bergman, Arkansas, passed away January 17, 2026, at NARMC. He was born July 3, 1951, at Springfield, Missouri to Clinton Henry Hagood and Goldie Cheek Hagood. He met the love of his life, Barbara Manning, when he was 19 years old at her parents' restaurant in Harrison. They married on May 8, 1971, and together they raised two children he dearly loved: Johnny and Kimberly Hagood.
John had a lifelong passion for driving semi‑trucks. Over 52 years on the road, he not only built a career he was proud of but also taught countless others how to drive. He was a talented guitar player and cherished the time he spent teaching his grandson to play. John loved being on his land with his dogs, his horses, and his sixteen cats. One of his greatest joys was his red Mazda Miata, which he proudly bought for his granddaughter when she was just seven years old.
His grandchildren, Haden and Haley, were the center of his world. He prayed to the Lord to allow him enough time to see them grow up. When the great‑grandchildren arrived, they quickly captured their papa's heart. John gave his life to the Lord and was baptized in September of 2023. His faith was deeply important to him, and he attended church every Sunday until his health no longer allowed it.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara (Manning) Hagood; his son, Johnny (Cindi) Hagood; his daughter, Kimberly Hagood; his grandson, Haden (Tristen) Hagood; his granddaughter, Dr. Haley (Dameon) Ireland; and his great‑grandsons, Grayson and Grady Hagood, all of Harrison. He is also survived by his favorite cousin (whom he considered a sister), Barbara Shea of Grain Valley, Missouri, and a lifelong family friend, Pam Surett of Bergman, along with many other beloved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Henry Hagood; his mother, Goldie Cheek Hagood; his paternal grandparents, Elbert H. Hagood and Jane Robinson Kelley; his maternal grandparents, Will Cheek and Mary Ann Cheek; his cousin, Brenda Noland of Kansas City; and his lifelong friend, Jim Surett of Bergman.
Pallbearers are Dwayne Farmer, Jerry Norvell, Dale Manning, Craig Yarbrough, Chris Norvell, Kris Ramsey, and Bill Haight.
Honorary pallbearers are Roger Watson, Greg Muffler Sr., Pam Surett, Terry Falkenberry, Don Lott, "Chicken" George Montgomery, Wes Richardson, Roger Paul, and the second-floor staff at NARMC.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, January 23, at 2 p.m., both at Woodland Heights Baptist Church, 1001 Gipson Rd., Harrison. Interment will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, 421 Maplewood Rd., Harrison. Pastor Heath Kirkpatrick officiating all.
