John Edward "J.E." Edgmon, age 81 of Low Gap, Arkansas passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at his home.
The son of Jesse and Martha Ann (Watson) Edgmon was born January 21, 1930 at Mossville, Arkansas.
J.E. was married to Goldie Mae Dyer on September 10, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was a timber worker and a farmer and had lived most of his life in Newton County, except for the brief times he lived in Wichita, Kansas and Fayetteville, Arkansas.
J.E. was a member of the Mossville United Baptist Church. He was saved during the August 2010 revival at Mossville United Baptist Church and was baptized on Sunday, August 15, 2010.
Family was important to him and he dearly loved each and everyone and all the many friends he met throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Martha Edgmon; one son, Kevin Edgmon; an infant daughter, Judy Kay Edgmon; an infant granddaughter, Jessica Hampton; five sisters, Velma Sparks, Eileen Woods, Glenna Reynolds, Bertha Reynolds, and Cleo Lager and two brothers, Eddie Joe Edgmon and Wade Edgmon.
Survivors are his loving wife, Goldie Edgmon of Low Gap, Arkansas; three sons, David Edgmon and Marty Edgmon both of Mossville, Arkansas and Kendall Edgmon of Low Gap, Arkansas; four daughters, Virdia Hampton, Gaylene Holt and Michele Fierro all of Low Gap, Arkansas and Vicky Nelson of Springdale, Arkansas; two brothers, Ward Edgmon of Low Gap, Arkansas and Lawton Edgmon of Mossville, Arkansas; three sisters, Louise Grubb of Springdale, Arkansas, Bonnie Regier of Rogers, Arkansas and Ruby Hollon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Mossville United Baptist Church with Bobby Young and Robert Edgmon officiating. Burial followed in Mossville Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation was Monday, January 24, 2011 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers were Steve Regier, Danny Woods, Spankie Woods, Kennie Woods, Landon Woods, Billy Woods, Kevin Robertson, and Johnny Hampton. Honorary pallbearers were all of his grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
