Joe Dean Wilson, age 87, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed from this life on September 20, 2023 at Willard Walker Hospice House in Fayetteville.
The son of Darious "Buster" Wilson and Beulah Faye (Sims) Wilson was born in Alpena, Arkansas on September 12, 1936. He graduated Harrison High School in 1955 and enlisted in the US Navy one year later. He was honorably discharged on August 5, 1960.
Joe Dean married Betty A. Barrett, and together they raised 3 sons, Joe Thomas, Sam, and Tim. In 1988, Joe married Jayne Wilson and added 3 bonus children, James Douglas, Judy, and Janis.
Joe Dean was a "hard-working man", retiring from Anchor Die Cast. He returned to work at Bergman School, while expanding his fence business, Joe Wilson Fencing, that he ran for 30 years.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and he especially loved his role as a dad and grandpa. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling, telling tales, and his cats. He was also a talented fiddle maker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Joe Thomas Wilson; brother, Tom Wilson, sister, Josephine Wilson, and two infant grandsons.
Joe Dean is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jayne Wilson; children, Sam Wilson and wife Amy, Tim Wilson and wife Merri, James Douglas Wilson and wife Cynthia, Judy Wilson, and Janis Miller and husband Eric; six granddaughters, Audrey Frisby (Tyler), Ashton Wilson, Theresa Wilson, Andi Wilson, Sarah Miller and Kasi Miller Roberts (Vincent); two great grandchildren, Theo Frisby and Mila Roberts; daughter-in-law, Jetty Wilson; and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside service with military honors will be at Maple Leaf Cemetery on Saturday, September 30 at 10 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:30 AM at Harrison Faith Church, Family Life Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ozark Humane Society, PO Box 542, Harrison, AR 72602.
