Joe Wayne Smith, age 57 of Capps, Arkansas passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at NARMC in Harrison, Arkansas.
The son of Billy Joe and Floy Dean (Sparks) Smith was born October 20, 1958 at Harrison, Arkansas.
He worked for many years doing masonry work and was a care-giver at Boone County Independent Living. Joe was an avid collector of antique toys and arrowheads. He loved airplanes and his family has a deep history with them, as his grandfather and many other family members were pilots. He loved his grandchildren deeply, and was Papa Joe to all kids. He enjoyed "jeeping" with his grandsons and great grandsons, and being involved in outdoor activities with his wife, including visiting the Buffalo River. He was proud to live in Arkansas. He loved his dog Charleeta and will be remembered by everyone for his smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jason Todd Dickey, Sr.; a sister-in-law, Pat Pederson; and brothers-in-law, Jackie Rains and Gary Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Smith of the home, 2 sons, Matt Dickey and wife Cindy of Harrison; Greg Dickey and wife Devonna of Harrison; 7 grandchildren, 2 that he raised, Jason Todd Dickey, Jr., of the home and Miranda Richardson and husband Justin of Lead Hill; and Jakob, Drew, Kara and Kyla Dickey and Desiree Sinor all of Harrison; 2 great grandchildren, Xander and Eliza; a brother, Bill Douglas and wife Karen of Valley Springs; a sister, Barbara Cochran and husband Russ of Harrison; his father-in-law, Vernon Martin of Capps; his brothers and sisters-in-law, DeDe and Bear Harris of Harrison, John Kent and Lisa Rains of Capps and Drew and Sherri Rains of Pensacola, FL; a special nephew, Jason Lee Smith and many other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be 2 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 at Denning Cemetery with Rev. George Smith officiating.
Pallbearers are Matt Dickey, Greg Dickey, Jason Todd Dickey, Jr., Drew Rains, John Kent Rains, and Jason Lee Smith. Honorary Pallbearer is Dr. Kenneth Collins.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
