Joe Lynn Deaton, of Valley Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was 79 years old.
The son of the late Joe M. Deaton and Lucille (Seay) Deaton was born July 12, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee. He moved to Boone County in 1977. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Valley Springs.
He retired from Summit Helicopters where he worked in sales and as a coordinator. He was also a veteran of the National Guard, serving in Mississippi and Arkansas.
Joe enjoyed deer hunting, bird hunting, and attending church. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time working on the farm, especially with cattle.
Joe was a private man with a tight close-knit circle. He was hardworking, honest, and strong with resilient tough grit. He felt deeply and strongly about his political views. Joe could not and would not sit still. He always had to be busy doing something. He was a good cook and enjoyed cooking for friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Deaton of the home; his son, Vince Deaton and wife, Amy, of Everton; two daughters, Debra LeJeune of Memphis, TN and Paris Bingham and husband, Eli of Mill Valley, CA; a brother, Don Deaton and wife Carol of Panama City, FL; a sister, Sandra Davis and husband Charlie, of Harrison, AR; six grandchildren, Olivia, Bailey, Shelby, Claire, Ingrid, and Macy; five great grandchildren, Deaton, Maxwell, Briggs, Murphy, and Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM both on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. Pastor Carl Garvin will officiate.
Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison.
Pallbearers are Vince Deaton, Randy Kimes, Brad Bryant, Jason Foley, Jim Kimes, and Rich Fleischer.
