Joe Garrett Criner, age 66, of Vendor, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 in Harrison.

The son of Loy and Betty (Jones) Criner was born November 16, 1959 in Harrison. He was a lifelong resident of Newton County and a member of Big Creek Assembly of God Church.

Joe was a hard worker and spent his adult life working in a sawmill. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing with his kids at Dardanelle and hunting. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandkids. Joe was stubborn, humble, and loved to argue – he was never bashful about giving you a hard time.

At the end of the day, the most important thing to Joe was his family. He loved them and would do anything he could for them. His kids and his grandkids adored him, and everyone that knew him and loved him will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lawton Criner; and the mother of his children, Janice Criner.

Joe is survived by his three children, Justin Criner (Megan), Ryan Criner (Bobbie), and Jessica Criner (Steven Hall); his brother, Howard Criner; 6 grandchildren, Dominik Criner, Garrett “Daffy” Mahurin, Brianna Aldridge, Graceyn Blanton, Wayton Blanton, and Braxton “Little Boy” Miller; one great grandson, Hank Sipes; a niece, Michella Criner, a special uncle, Stevie Riddell; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday, September 28 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper. Burial will follow at Sexton Cemetery in Mount Judea.

Pallbearers are Dominik Criner, Steven Hall, Brandon Middleton, Brently Royce, Garrett Mahurin, Wayton Blanton, and Braxton Miller.
