Jimmy Leon "Jim" Bass, Sr., of Western Grove, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Washington Regional Medical Center at the age of 70.
The son of Buster Bass and Edith Johnson was born at Hasty on December 18, 1949. He lived in Newton County most of his life. He was employed with Harrison Schools as a bus driver.
Jim loved his job driving the bus, and he loved the kids. He also enjoyed fishing, riding 4-wheelers, camping and traveling. He was sweet, kind and loving and very family oriented. He especially loved to spend time with his grandkids, they were his world. Jim was a special man who would do anything for anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karen Campbell and a grandson, Nicholas Love.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Bass; seven children, Jimmy Bass, Jr. (Patricia), Joe Bass (Melissa), Christina Love, Chris Bass, Opie Ply, Cameron Ply (Billie) and Cara Copley (Daniel); three sisters, Susie Smith (Roger), Cindy Perry (McKay) and Lana Hagenbucher (Keith); 15 grandkids, 10 great grandkids and two on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends who loved him and will miss him.
Graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, November 17, at Smith Cemetery in Vendor with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.
Open Visitation will be Monday from 8 AM – 5 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison. In compliance with Covid-19 state mandates, all attendees must provide and wear face masks and observe social distancing.
Pallbearers are family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are his co-workers at the Harrison Schools Bus Garage.
