Jewell Franklin Johnson, age 79 went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. He was at home with his favorite person, listening to his favorite music.
The son of the late Willie Franklin and Edith Jewell Johnson was born May 18, 1942 in Alpena, Arkansas.
Jewell loved the Lord and read his Bible daily. He was a member of Pine Street Missionary Baptist Church for many years and recently was attending Pilot Mountain Grace Bible Fellowship.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rita Johnson; daughters, Linda Reeves and husband Robert and Danae Eddings and husband, Robert; sons, Tom Rudzewicz and wife Janet and Stan Rudzewicz; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Lauren, Kaylee, Austin, Dylan, Donovan and Justyn; 10 great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Robert, Kylee, Kara, Alexandria, Tiegan, Mason, Ava, Ella and Palmer and a host of extended relatives and many friends.
Jewell began working in the propane business in 1970, working for several companies before opening his own business, Pioneer Propane, in 1993. He successfully operated the business until he retired in 2011.
He was an avid aviator and loved to spend time flying. His other favorite things were playing and listening to music, mowing his giant yard, driving for miles to eat a meal and going jeeping on the backroads. He especially loved to pick on and pester anyone he could get a rise out of.
His most favorite way to pass time was cooking or grilling for his family and many friends. He loved and treasured his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service will be at 2 PM, Monday, May 16, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Bro. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Plumlee Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 PM - 4 PM at Coffman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Donovan Rudzewicz, Austin Eddings, Justyn Rudzewicz, Dylan Eddings, Stan Rudzewicz, Tom Rudzewicz and Robert Eddings.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or Wounded Warrior Project.
