Jerry Leon "Peanut" Young, age 80, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center on Friday, February 28, 2025.

The son of the late G.B. and Edna Mae (Luallen) Young was born October 26, 1944. Peanut grew up in Everton and graduated from Valley Springs High School in 1962.

Jerry worked as a purchasing agent for Lawrence Berkley Laboratory from 1976-1996. He moved back home to Boone County in 1996. He attended Valley Springs First Baptist Church.

Peanut had a smile you never forgot. He was a kind, loving companion, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He loved his family tremendously and loved spending time with them. His favorite past time in his younger years was coaching his son's little league baseball team in Albany for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling, everything from road trips to cruises. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, and he also enjoyed cheering on the Valley Springs Tigers alongside Betsy.

You can't talk about Peanut without mentioning Lil' Bit. He adored his fur baby, and he was such a comfort to him after Betsy's passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life and companion of 23 years, Betsy Cash; two brothers, Kenneth and Danny Young; a sister, Shirley Cox; two brothers-in-law, Ira "Chuck" Browder and Ron Cox and bonus daughter, Tanya Hoppis.

Peanut is survived by his children, Doug Young and Melissa (Phillip) Stolte; and siblings, Rick (Cheri) Young and Sharon Young Browder; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; his beloved Lil' Bit; bonus son, Tyler Miller; brothers-in-love, Larry (Jane) Cash and Jerry (Pat) Cash; son-in-love, Duane Hoppis; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family; and many dear friends that loved him and will miss him dearly.

The visitation will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, March 5 (2025) at Coffman Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following at 2 PM. Charles Browder will officiate. Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Young, Charles Browder, Sean Young, Chris Norvell, Duane Hoppis, and Donald Hancock.
