Jerry Eugene Henderson, age 79, of Hasty, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, January 26, 2024.
The son of Willie and Ruth (Mayberry) Henderson was born September 7, 1944 in Cave Creek, Arkansas. He was a lifelong resident of Newton County and a 1962 graduate of Western Grove High School. He attended Redemption Fellowship Church in Hasty.
Jerry enlisted in the US Air Force May 7, 1965 and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of SGT on May 6, 1969. After his time in the military, he spent the years working as a carpenter, machinist, and a farmer. He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed blacksmithing and making knives. Jerry was a good brother, a loyal friend, and an all-around grand fella who was well liked.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ruth Henderson; two brothers, Junior Henderson and Devoe Henderson; and a brother-in-law, Delmer Bishop.
Jerry is survived by his sister, Bonnie Bishop; two daughters, Kristie Smith and Holly Henderson; six nephews, Kenny, Billy, Gregg, Scott, Gary, and David; two granddaughters; and his longtime companion and best friend of 40 years, Sheila Hurd; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be at 11 AM, Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Pastors Richard and Angie Bower officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Yardelle.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Ethan Wilson, Gabe Hensley, Allen Hazell, Scott Zemlik, Kirby Doane, and Dale Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are his caregivers at Highlands Oncology Group.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jerry's memory to Sand Hill Cemetery Fund, HC 32 Box 167, Hasty, AR, 72640 or Redemption Fellowship Church, PO Box 96, Hasty, AR, 72640.
