Obituary

Jerry Dean Chopp, of Omaha, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center.  He was 90 years old.

The son of Frank and Marie (Kaun) Chopp was born on July 21, 1935 in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.

Jerry attended Red Oak Baptist Church. After graduating from Shell Lake High School, he pursued his passion for the arts by attending art school in Chicago, Illinois. He built a long and successful career in graphic art design with the company, Vikase, where his creativity and talent were widely recognized. He was employed with them from July 5, 1955 to July 31, 1996.

Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  A licensed pilot, Jerry found great joy in flying and also had a lifelong passion for model airplanes. He and his beloved wife, Peggy, shared a love for travel, often exploring the country in their motorhome. Some of their most cherished trips were visits back to Jerry's hometown of Shell Lake, Wisconsin.

Above all, Jerry was a loving and devoted family man. He especially treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gerda; his parents; and one brother, Calvin Chopp.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Peggy Chopp; one daughter and her husband, Annette and Dan Hugen; one son, Brent Chopp; three stepchildren, Kerri (Gary) Couch, Ronnie (Vicki) Canard, and Brian Canard; one niece, Brenda (Bobby) Conti; five grandchildren, Heather (Jeremiah) Wallace, Autumn (Matt) Brumett, Noah (Maddie) Hugen, Brandon Chopp, and Tyler Chopp; four step grandchildren, Tarrah Couch, Kelli (Mark) Jelks, Blake (Ashlynn) Canard, and Paige (Jordan) Akins; two great grandchildren, Canyon and Stratton; three step great grandchildren, Cash, Jolene, Raylee, Georgie May, and Everett; and a host of other family, neighbors, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Skinner Funeral Home, 511 First Street, Shell Lake, Wisconsin 54871.
