Jerry Lee Baughman, 84 of Bellefonte, passed away at Hospice of the Hillis with his family by his side on August 31, 2024.
The son of Floyd T. Baughman and Della (Cummings) Baughman was born November 12, 1939 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Jerry has lived in Boone and Newton Counties for over 40 years. He was a member of Bellefonte Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking. His life's work was construction. Jerry learned the trade from his dad and granddad and spent 70 years working as a carpenter and cabinet builder. He worked in Newton County with Self-Help Housing and built 7 homes in the county during the 90's. Jerry also worked many years with Eddie Estes making cabinets until he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Lavern (Richardson) Baughman; parents, Floyd T. and Della (Cummings) Baughman, his step-mom, Imogene Baughman; daughters, Deelee Baughman and Della Baughman; sisters, Phyllis Spence and Patty Cockman; and brothers, Paul Baughman, Eugene Baughman, and Billy Burnett.
Jerry is survived by his son, Curtis Cummings (Jodi) of Harrison; daughters, Julia Collins (Craig) of Piercetown, Cheryl Clayborn (Jackie) of Deer; Carla Tomlinson (Nathan) of Dunedin, FL; and Kathy Houston (Merle) of Harrison; 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; special friends, Jeanine Keeter and all the staff of Jamie's Restaurant; Area Agency on Aging Caregiver, Dal Youngblood; and Tara, Tia, and Mel of Countryside at Rock Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Countryside at Rock Springs, and to the nursing staff of Hospice of the Hills.
Funeral service will be at 2 PM, Saturday, September 7 (2024) at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper with Pastor Heath Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Nail.
Visitation will be Friday, September 6 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers are Ryan Clayborn, Trey Cummings, Colten Cummings, Justin Henderson, Shannon Clayborn, Jake Clayborn, Dallas Byrd, and Chad Stanberg.
Honorary pallbearers are Jesse L. Clark, Craig Collins, Nathan Tomlinson, Jackie Clayborn, Mike Huey, Laythan Collins, and Merle Houston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Hills, 501 E Sherman, Harrison, AR, 72601.
