Obituary

Jerald Cecil “J.C.” Cone, of Harrison, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 at The Springs of Mt. Vista. He was 77 years old.

The son of Howard Hensley and Sarah Caroline (Fowler) Cone was born on February 16, 1949 in Everton, Arkansas.

J.C. was a loving father and a proud Papa who treasured his family above all else. He spent more than 35 years as an over-the-road truck driver, logging countless miles while providing for those he loved. When he wasn't on the road, you could usually find him mowing the yard or waging his never-ending battle against dandelions—one weed at a time. He also enjoyed spending time at the gun range, where he could relax and enjoy one of his favorite pastimes. J.C. had a wonderful sense of humor, which was evident even in his final words to his daughters: "Have more grandkids." It was a request that perfectly reflected his love for family and his hope that it would continue to grow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two great grandchildren, Savannah and Jesse; three brothers, Bill Cone, Howard Cone, and James Allen Cone; three sisters, Brenda Wahl, Ethel Sanders, and Joyce Renee Cone.

Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Crow, Carolyn Badley Cone, and Loretta Cone, all of Harrison; eight grandchildren, Shenna Crow, Destany (Revae) Ivaska, Kayedan Cone, Kallie Cone, Zachary Tilley, Bayley Price, Kaitlin Price, and Landon Remkus; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Ishmael Cone, Wayne (Yvonne) Cone, and Donny (Candy) Cone; two sisters, Carolyn (Carl) Edwards and Evelyn (Jim) Mysinger; the mother of his children, Thelma Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Memorial service will be Friday, July 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Coffman Funeral Home of Harrison. Kenneth Crow will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons and great grandsons.
