Jean L. Morphis, age 60 of Parthenon, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday December 4, 2008 in Marshall, Texas.
She was born July 20, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of Glen Edward and Carrie Irene (Rainey) Lucas.
Jean was a graduate of Calera High School, Calera, Alabama.
She was a homemaker and her greatest goal in life was taking care of her family. Jean was a member of the Deer Baptist Church and had moved to Newton County in 1985 from Tyler, Texas.
Her parents preceded her in death along with her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Lillie Morphis.
Survivors are her husband, Bill Morphis of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Kathryn Ozley of Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Jerry Liggett of Deer, Carrie and Stacey Collins of Piercetown, and Betsy and Patrick Hunter of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Glenda Reid of Montevallo, AL and Peggy Jo Brasher of Calera, AL; twelve grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Parthenon Baptist Church with James Compton and Robert Huber officiating. Burial followed in Union Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
Pallbearers were Jerry Liggett, Stacey Collins, Patrick Hunter, Michael Kirkpatrick, Robbie Kirkpatrick and Kyle Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, Billy Joe Collins, Madison Liggett, Tyler Morphis, Clayton Collins, Erin Lundgren, Emma Lundgren, Maddy Hunter, Elizabeth Hunter and Kate Dean.
