Obituary

JC Methvin, 89, of Harrison, Arkansas, shook hands with Jesus on Thursday, November 23, 2023.  The nail scarred hands of the Savior grasped the calloused hands of His servant as JC was rewarded with all the riches of Heaven.

JC was born May 16, 1934 in Freck, Arkansas to Theron and Donnie Methvin. He attended school in the communities of Pea Ridge and Bruno. JC excelled on the basketball team, drove a school bus during his latter high school days, and courted his future bride, Beverly Pennington. They were married in 1953 and shared 70 years together.

JC was engaged in a variety of employment opportunities including barbering, milking cows, gas station attendant, truck driving, custom haying, cattle ranching, and raising laying hens for Tysons. His hands were never idle, whether he was working hard to provide for his family, helping a neighbor, hosting a family get-together, spending time with his grandchildren, honoring his role as a deacon, or tackling Beverly's to-do list. He also served with the Disaster Relief Team and shared the gospel in two foreign countries with his brothers-in-Christ.

JC was preceded in death by his son, Glen; his parents; and his siblings, Bob (Pat), James (Joann), and Donna Marie (Bill).

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; siblings, Willie (Barbara), Charlie (Jill), Ruby (Gerald), and Barbara Jean; sons, Cliff (Lisa) and Mark (Charlotte), daughter, Chelli (George), and daughter-in-law, Phyllis; ten grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren that will miss their Papa very much as well as the host of nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Jake dearly.

The family wishes to send a special "thank-you" to the wonderful, caring staff at Countryside Assisted Living.

We've come to understand that there was always love in Daddy's hands and that JC would want each of you to experience the love of the Heavenly Father's hands.

The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison with Eddie Holt officiating.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Arkansas Baptist Ranch, 5742 Boys Ranch Drive, Harrison, AR, 72601 or Three Wishes for Ruby's Residents, 102 W. Stephenson, Harrison, AR 72601 or The Gideons International, PO Box 997, Harrison, AR 72602.
